5 Best Active Vacation Destinations for Fit Travelers

Britney Spears once said that there are two types of people in the world. But it’s not the ones who entertain and the ones that observe, but people who go on holidays in order to rest and do nothing. And the ones who are always looking for some excitement and authenticity.

If you are a member of the latter group, then this article is just for you as we will give you five ideas on where to go next.

Dream destinations are always there – we always have them somewhere in our minds, but more often than not, we find a new one to ruin our plans.

So, behold these five ideas to either ruin the bucket list that you have created thus far, or perhaps to get you back in track and go back to your original destination that you had in mind.

Without further ado, these are some amazing destinations for all the people who prefer active holidays:

One of the most interesting places that you can visit, and also one that is not crowded with tourists is Georgia – but we’re not talking about the USA state.

This country is just between Europe and Asia, in between the Caucasus Mountains, and it’s one of the most authentic countries of this region.

Once there, you will land in Tbilisi, the country’s capital, and make sure to take photos of the jaw-dropping scenes while you’re landing.

You won’t see such mountains anywhere else. Apart from sightseeing the capital city and seeing what it offers, you will be able to witness the amazing historic architecture and the 4th-century Narikala hill fort.

This is a place that is very rich in landmarks and history, so you will really have a very active holiday if you opt for Georgia.

You can also take a ride to the town of Stepantsminda (which is also referred to as Kazbegi, its old name). This ride is just three hours north of Tbilisi.

When you’re there, you can opt for a world-class hiking trip to the mountain of Mount Kazbek (5,033m).

Even though it’s not very exotic nor oriental, Canada can really be a place to go to, regardless of the type of holiday you want to have.

If you want to rest and do nothing, you will find great resorts where you will be able to do just that, but if you want an active holiday. You can always find different options to experience Canada and Alaska specialist holidays and have a journey of a lifetime.

What is good about Canada and Alaska is the fact that you can go here regardless of the season as you will be able to ski and enjoy a snow-filled holiday. But also take a swim in some of its amazing lakes and make some even more amazing photographs.

Since Canada is also a road trip country, you can also opt for some rock climbing if you pick the right season.

New Zealand

If you like active holidays, it means that you also pay special attention to the nature and you love everything that’s green and fresh.

If this is the case, then the next place you should have in mind is New Zealand, one of the greenest countries in the world.

It’s not for nothing that Peter Jackson decided to make Hobbiton out of this amazing country. The rivers here are bluer than the sky, the ocean is so amazing that it sometimes crashes endlessly onto the rocks, while at other times it’s so still and tranquil.

This is exactly why New Zealand is an amazing active holiday – you will not need vehicles, especially if you’re located somewhere in the outskirts of a town. As everything is simply so mesmerizing that it would be a shame not to see it in person and feel it.

Apart from that, you can opt for various activities such as mountain biking, skiing, canyoning, white-water rafting and even bungee jumping.

Zambia and Zimbabwe

Everyone seems to be going to Europe and Asia for holidays, forgetting that the world has so many other places to offer.

One such is Africa, and it’s a continent that’s not for the faint-hearted.

If you want to experience Africa at its best, you should opt for Zambia and Zimbabwe, and make a stop at the Victoria Falls, the world’s largest waterfall.

Here you can try a 111-meter bungee jump, or even zip across the Zambezi River. Apart from these two options, Africa offers skydiving, cage diving among crocodiles, or riding a boat on the Zambezi River and experiencing the rapids.

Yes, Africa has it all and it’s all so rugged that you will definitely love it if you are up for this stuff. Remember, though, that Africa is not for everyone, so you really have to think twice if you want to go there.

But if you do, you will have the time of your life.

Now, if we’re talking Europe, let’s talk about a country that we all visit during the winter, even though it has so much beauty to show in the springtime and summer as well.

Switzerland is a winter wonderland for many, and it’s for a good reason – Switzerland offers one of the best skiing experiences in the world.

However, you can also hit this country in springtime or summer and take a walk and experience the amazing plains, lakes and nature.

Take a walk and hike the Alps from village to village and live your own Heidi adventure. It’s a great place for people who love running, jogging, trekking or hiking.

The people are also extremely kind, and the whole country is super clean. However, bear in mind that the prices might be a bit higher, especially if you want to make a stop in Zurich.

Apart from these five, there are so many more places that you can see and have an active holiday at. These five are just some amazing points on the map of the world, but feel free to experience anything you want.

Have a great time, no matter where you go!
