Yoga. What sensation does this word give to you? Spirituality, mindfulness, wellness, enlightenment or peace? One can choose any one or all of these depending on how deep you are aware of the science.

A learned yogi defines Yoga as a discipline of overall fitness, incorporating physical, mental as well as spiritual aspects.

The physical wellness sponsored by Yoga is mainly defined by the bodily exercise of asanas. Over the years, a number of fitness trainers and Yoga masters have advocated the poses as weight-loss practices.

The yogic exercises have almost replaced the normal machine-based training for eliminating the extra kilos from the body and gaining a fit and toned body.

If your body has gone irritated with carrying the burden of unwanted fats and toxins, have a look at the following Yoga asanas.


Kill the fatty tissues by standing on the shoulders. Although it is considered an advanced pose, the practice gives a lot of fun along with weight-loss and a number of other fitness benefits.

While you are lying on the ground, lift up the legs along the shoulder and try to make it perpendicular to the ground. In the beginning, you may not be able to do so, for which you can take the help of a yoga expert.

Against the wall, hold the back with the hands and balance the weight of the body by thrusting the elbows on the ground.

The inversion posture brings the body to release toxins intensely when the position is held for approx 30 seconds.


Why use barbells when you have your own body to pull the weight off? Phalakasana is a finer way to strengthen the core of the body along with getting rid of the bodily toxins.

Plank is practiced by depositing the complete body weight on the palms and feet. The thing a practitioner should keep in mind is that the body must be in a straight line and the arms should make a right angle with the mat during the posture.

The strain can be felt in the abdomen in just a few seconds of holding the pose. The biggest benefit of this pose is that it removes fat from all parts of the body.

One can intensify the practice by positioning the body in Side Plank Pose. Another variant of Phalakasana can be practiced by grounding the elbows instead of the palms.

Prasarita Padottanasana

Bending in front and challenging the earth’s gravitation is not an easy task. But the toil comes with enormous health benefits.

The more intensive your rivalry is with the gravitational force, the better it is for your weight-loss goal. Stand tall and straight and follow the pose with spreading the legs apart in the same line at approx 3 ft distance.

Incline towards the ground in the forward direction to touch the mat with the hands. Remember not to bend the knees.

The effect of this pose can be felt mainly at the thighs and abdomen. The wide-legged forward bend is a great exercise for bettering the process of digestion in the body.


Burn the extra calories with one of the most challenging Yoga poses.

The asana has the ability to strengthen the arms muscles to a great extent. It is a little difficult pose to practice, for it denotes sitting on your palms having the elbows straight. Squat 5-6 times to warm up and make the body ready prior to indulging in the Crow Pose.

Put the palms on the mat with fingers wide scattered and pull the body towards the roof placing the knees on the edge of the upper arms. Balance the weight of the body on the arms by pushing the body towards the head.

Take a few breaths in that position before returning to the original position slowly. Fats present in the thighs, belly, and back get burnt when you practice this pose every day. The asana is a fine exercise to learn the art of balancing the body and mind during unseemly situations.


Halasana or Plow Pose is one of the finest ways to improve digestion and reduce the chances of toxin accumulation in the body.

While the brain remains lower to the heart and other parts of the body, it also promotes a better blood circulation in the head region upgrading the thinking ability of a person. Begin by lying flat on the Yoga mat with feet close to each other and arms near the body.

Raise the legs up in the sky and follow this by bringing the feet behind the head. Touch the mat with your toes and make sure that only the hands and the body above the shoulders are in contact with the mat.

The detoxifying Yoga asana is useful in compressing the abdomen and massages the digestive organs.

Practice these five asanas and let Yoga help you attain your fitness goal. Always remember to finish any Yoga sessions or practice with a relaxation pose to calm down the mind and body.
